A quad 350 Yamaha 475 Intrepid will outrun a quad 350 Verado boat any day of the week.
thats surprising. Verados are generally fast for the power, I assume due to RPM. I’ve read the Yamaha 350 is faster than the Suzuki 350. Which isn’t very surprising considering the displacement advantage.

Id like to see the 425 be successful. I like the big V8. The 350s rep is cursed at this point. They probably should have shot a little higher like 450hp to make it a clear step up from the 400r though.

The verado is def a faster engine on the right boat. But, on a heavier boat the Yamaha is a better performer due to displacement.

Im not sure on the power yet. I’m not super brand loyal when it comes to outboards. I’ve seen them all do their job well over the years and also fail. Definitely think I would like to see quads. She has a 12.5 beem and should weigh in around 20,000 pounds. The closest boat in length width and weight are the 40ish Boston whaler outrage and a formula, both have 350-400 verados. The new 425 Yamahas look really appealing on paper, maybe in a couple of months after some customers get them running for a bit we will know more about them. I know people are really passionate about this topic, I’m open to advice,

Outside
man I’d love to see that. I’ve been thinking about the same project.

Sound advice from all on the engines. Similar to what I was thinking. The other issue is weight being moved back from where the internal engines were. I compensated some what by taking out the old tanks that were on the sides and doing two belly tanks that are shorter , taller and closer to the bow. A portion of The transom is below the waterline and should help on the flotation. Planning on adding the shortest jack plates from Bob’s machine shop to help dial in the ride but that’s a few inches more in the wrong direction

Default Nothing super exciting today

Wasn’t really happy with the waves and angles on the hard top, so spent most of the week with straight edge rulers getting it to where we can hit it with primera again. Can’t wait to move on to the deck
