Looking at the twin diesel Hustler
My wife and I are looking at the 2007 40' Hustler classic with twin diesels and surface drives. Boat looks very clean and one owner. I know it's not fast, but the cruise speed of 60-65 is very appealing. Sales guy claims 78mph top speed. Does anyone have any unbiased experience about this boat? Or any experience with a 40 Classic in general and or comparable boat with twin diesels? She's powered with Yanmars, how about their reliability? You'd think with diesels and arnesons she'd be pretty bulletproof. Eventually this may be the boat we great loop in. Thanks in advance.

The 6ly yanmar engines are good reliable engine packages. Coupled with the twin disc asd8 you can’t go wrong. Very simple and strong setup. I have installed this engine/drive package and several boats and it is reliable. I believe that boat is pretty low hour as well. The top speed should be pretty accurate as well. I know of a 39 Nortech with that same package that ran over 80. My former employer owned the Nortech. Keep good clean fuel in the boat along with regular basic maintenance and you will have a great
boat. If you are going to use the boat in salt water just keep a light coat of crc 656 or corrosion x on the engines and drive lines and they will stay nice and clean

So I flew out to California and took her for a sea trial and decided I had to have her. I'm waiting for the weather to break in Michigan before I have her hauled home. I'm curious if anyone would know about what she weighs? Paperwork claims 10.5k

I have a 37' CC with twin 6LP (315hp) Yanmars and Bravo drives. Runs 60 cruise all day at 50 getting 2 mpg. I have had zero issues with the Yanmars. I think you will be very happy with it. Post some pics and some performance numbers when you get it. And don't forget about MPG!

Congrats on the purchase, that boat lives in the bay directly behind my house - it's a nice looking rig on the water. To my knowledge, the owner has never really had any problems with it. He's never used it much, as he takes out his Hustler/Talon 377 about twenty times more than the diesel V. I've only seen the V go out about 5-6 times in the 15 years I've lived behind him, it should be a low hour rig still.
