72 MPH with a HP500???
Is that a Fountain?
Is the Donzi of Shanghied's THAT fast?
I would hope so, considering Velocity has a VR-1 (28-5 ft.) that runs 80 easy...
And other manufacturers, like Sunsation that run better than that. Bold statement, especially when Donzi's ventilated hull throws people from the boat in rough water.

You are missing the boat so to speak. The 25 outlaw from baja has it all over any of the aforementioned boats, ride, room, price, wonder why its the best selling sportboat in its size??

garshev,
I'm with you. Of course I predjudiced as I'm on my third Baja
I've owned both a '25 Outlaw and a 260 Powler. IMHO, I found the Baja a bit more nimble and quicker. Both are really good in crappy water. The Sonic cabin wins hands down though. Overall good fit and finish and awesome graphics. I sold my Prowler to a good friend and he loves it. A lot of my buddies have 25 Outlaws and love them. All a matter of personal preference.
For the money though, I don't think you can beat the Outlaw. Wait and check out the new '30 Outlaw thats supposed to be at the Miami show.
OK, I'm ready for the Baja bashing

Checkered Flag, The 29 mybuddie owns has a 500 with all of us on the boat he runs GPS 72, The VR is a fast boat, But just like the Kryptonite,Activator,Superboat and so on you sacarafice freeboard, They are sit down boats not a good stand up boat, They are made for more speed not comfort its all in taste and what your needs are. The Donzi you are refering to that throws people out is the 22ZX, If you trim in on a turn with any Step hull your going to stuff and spin out. The 22ZX did this more offten because it was a smaller lower priced boat that can be bought by anyone who wanted a performance boat and couldn't handle one. If you do a survey most of your flip overs, spin outs and boat accidents are on lower level entry boats 24 ft down, most are from lack of knowledge on how to use properally, not the boat. The 26 ZX won best sportboat award in 1999 Powerboat Magazine and never spun out, She is not squirley and she can turn pretty tight, Believe me I have tried to spin it, I spun my 22ZX twice on purpose just to see how to correct the spin out and I did. Below this was my Trophy winning 82mph 22ZX that had over 510hp with a 454 SC. I ran this boat Like I stole it and she never let me down.

Im kinda partial to the 25 Active Thunder.
A few of my observations on some of the other boats mentioned;
Donzi - Franks 22 took a hellava beating and alway finished in one piece.
Kryptonite - its a different kind of boat, very fast very little freeboard.
Fountain - nice boats but Im not particularly a fan.
Baja - they are priced right and for all the chit they get I cant say I ever saw one that didnt look good.
Sonic - getting there, its a custom boat with great cabin and cockpit area, good freeboard but you do need to put some power to it.
Active Thunder - obviously my chioce, very simolar to the Sonic but definatly not the same. I feel it handles better and can absolutly handle the rough stuff.
Sunsation - Ive only been in the 32 single with a wipple. I held the GPS @ 85. Fast, nice layout....havent spent enough time to want to say more.
Let me know if your interested in an Active Thunder, Im toying with the idea of selling mine to buy Yep...another AT most likely.
Boat is a '98 w/ 502Mag (8hrs), Bravo (0hrs), anf all the grab rails swim plat are comming off today to be re-powdercoated.

CheckerdFlag,
I run a 500efi 25 hydro, out of Factory radared 74, best to date I got is radared 75, However I GPS 72 full of gas and 4 people. Just a side note I was preparing for a 1 mile radar run, I could get to 72.9 from dead stop with out pushing the boat/drive hard.
All tests are in freash water or Brackish.
I agree about the Vr-1, Power boat got it to around 80 mph, wth a 500efi, but it also had a 29 hydro worked over on it. Plus if I remember right it is only 4000lbs, that very light for a 28 foot boat. It had to be a mess with a 29 Hydro planing off and mid range???? But it does have it on top end.
