There's a difference IMO.
I'd imagine they get so many BS, no sale generating, hassle questions either way, and way more via e-mail that they have to draw a line somewhere.
I call someone, no answer, no call back. I move on down the line.
E-mail, I have some leniency. Actually don't even use the e-mail if I want results.

I just bought some Hering wheels and put two calls into Hering last week. These folks did answer each call. Very willing to help!
