Default Confused & confirm!

Good evening to all. I just recently posted about purchasing first performance boat period. As reading threads, I’m seeing go big if you can! My concern is length verse’s speed. I’m going to Tres Martian school, for boats running 75mph. Just because the boat says 130-60 doesn’t meanI will be running that. I am and will be a responsible heavy safety first boater. I do want a Catamaran, but is 44ft to Big for first? I can obviously afford what ever boat I want, and I mean what ever boats I want. So, 30-50foot. Learning small calm lakes first, before Detroit river and Michigan lakes. 4-5 people at a maximum ride along. Some year, poker runs to! Looking at DCB, Skater, Mti etc, thank you for your help.

I’d look for a 50-60’ turbine powered cat. Rudder and crash boxes. Less maintenance for your first boat.

I'm sure that everyone has a different opinion, but I would say yes that is to big to start, for one you are going to have to have tilt trailer and all its issues on top of everything else.

Take Tres class first and then work with him about riding in different size boats so you can find what you are comfortable with. everyone is going to be different.

hell I went from a 20' jet boat to a Cigarette and that was a huge jump but his class was priceless

Go as big as you like but take a Tres Martin course appropriate to the boat you are buying. On a cat, I’d say a 75 mph course won’t cut it. At some point, you’re gonna want to open the throttles.
BTW. When you talk to him, call him Mr Martin, not Mr “Martian” as you have typoed in your post. 🙂

I’m happy for you the money is at hand for something very nice but bigger is more money to buy and usually goes with bigger engines, bigger storage, bigger insurance, bigger maintenance etc, etc, etc. Be prepared to keep your cheque book open, otherwise the enjoyment of ownership will not last long.

A guy has a dream and is perusing it, asking important questions and he gets this bashing BS for answers. Tres M. are good suggestions, others?
All while people ask why the post count is so much lower.

well, when someone whom we dont know and is only a screen name says they can "obviously afford whatever he wants". one would tend to think that IF that were the case, his real world information on such a purchase wouldnt be this type of questions on a forum. there has been a plethora of others that have made those same claims and wound up being nothing.
