Had my Velocity out on Lake Huron in 8's, wish I had video. I was smart enough to leave my wife on the dock, LOL.

Why even consider it? Keep that velocity all day long.
Can’t wait to either burn or crush the pos 283 I have.

Whatever dude.
Near impossible to get them to show up on film.
Tried from land, bridges, ferries snd boats.
Never works.
I rode my bike out to the harbor entrance and watched other boats leaving while I contemplated my options.
Those boats were disappearing between the waves.
That don’t happen in 3’s!
And as I wrote, that was just leaving the harbor, only the last couple waves were the real thing.
Funny, always get critiqued by arm chair quarter backs that weren’t there.
3’s is Lake Erie every day.
Done those in my 29’ cuddy.
look up the Powerboat issue covering the Offshore race there in the ‘70’s.
Lots of broken boats, parts etc.
Its chop, not swells.

I had a '87 251 before I got this Velocity and honestly man I had nothing but problems with that boat. It would slam waves (just like your video) and i didn't want to go faster than like 20 because I was afraid the damn thing would crack. Any boat can go through rough water with the bow up
I'm going to keep the Velocity, all in all, the boats solid and a ton of people on here have made some solid points. Why go from a 2006 off-shore quality racing boat to a 1996 production boat. Not to mention the closed loop cooling vs water cooled, etc. The velocity is honestly way better quality of a build, so I'm gonna invest some money into some quality of life upgrades and run her... Why not 🤷🏻♂️

No argument from me on any of it.
If you have a Velocity now and like it, you should be a happy guy!
I wanted a 30’ Velocity OB in the worst way until seeing how small their cabins are.
We weekend on ours.
Remember too, they are from two different eras.
The 251’s we’re penned/built in the very early 80’s.
And they were raced, and won, as twin OBs, so were the 281’s.
The 253 has a much broader beam than the 252.
Honestly, IMO, the 251 makes it look like a Bayliner cuddy/pig!
I have near zero time on my 251 as I just finished the IO to OB conversion.
I have run it enough to tell it is way more weight/position sensitive than my previous two 24’ twin OB Sonics.
I know they built a ton of 251’s w/a lot of happy customer and have seen some scary fast ones!
