Are there any launch’s at all that you can comfortably launch a 35+ boat on Torch? Slim pickings on waterfront houses (we have a small dog). 😬

May start looking at Charlevoix. Really would like to run in Lake Michigan anyway.

Sounds like a bit of a puddle. I know a guy that bought a 330ss like my old one to run there. That’s quite a bit more draft and beam than my CC.

I launch my 30' Scarab Panther at Luhrs Landing and would easily accommodate a 35'+ boat. If I head up there this year for the 4th I'd launch my 37' AT there. It's a nice trek up the river.

We used the Dewit ramp for the 290 PQ. To my understanding they won’t let you use that ramp now? It was always funny seeing all the marks down the side of the pole barn where people backed into it. You won’t have any problems with the ramps on Lake Charlevoix.

Last summer Dewitt did not allow visiting boat owners to launch at their ramp on Clam River, Torch Lake. No problem launching at Elmwood marina on West Bay Traverse City if you decided to visit there.

Have been going up to Torch Lake since 1962 - truly a beautiful lake. As far as launches, etc. the other posters have pretty much spelled out your options. Places near the south (Torch River and the sand bar) are fun. Alden in a nice little town on the east shore, with some dockage and a couple places to have a drink or a bite to eat. Further up on the east side at Clam River, there's the Dockside.

Torch is part of the larger Chain, so you can head (carefully) west through Skegemog to Elk Lake and on to Elk Rapids. Conversely, you can go east through Clam Lake and (depending on boat draught) skooch through Grass River and into Lake Bellaire. Up the Intermediate River channel, Bellaire is a fun little town with the popular Short's Brewery and some other nice taverns/restaurants/shops. Love Torch enough that I made it a bar top...

As other have noted, Lake Charlevoix is excellent as well...plenty of places to stay, eat and the towns of Charlevoix and Boyne City. With access to Lake Michigan, it may be a better choice for larger boats and faster running up to 55, anyway. Wherever you go up here, you won't go wrong.

The water clarity is incredible on Torch. Indian River, Burt, and Mullett are also great boating in Northern Mi.
