They provide penalties for anyone who deliberately provide false representation connected to any part of a real estate transaction. Anyone convicted of mortgage fraud will face harsh penalties, including jail time, fines, and restitution.

My wife who had been in the business since 1999 was brought into review many appraisals by order of a few banks after the crash .
The falsification of many of the reports was astounding beyond what she thought they would be. .
By all orders of things thousands of appraisers and mortgage brokers should have gone to jail.
Not one that we heard of nor read of in the paper ever had any charges brought against them.

I was a real estate appraiser in SW Florida for the 2 years before the big real estate crash of 2008 . There was soo much inflated contriving of real estate values done by the appraisers by the order of the mortgage brokers leading up to it.
My wife who had been in the business since 1999 was brought into review many appraisals by order of a few banks after the crash .
The falsification of many of the reports was astounding beyond what she thought they would be. .
By all orders of things thousands of appraisers and mortgage brokers should have gone to jail.

The scale of the fraud matters. Those Florida crooks were probably dealing in millions or tens or millions. Not hundreds of millions or billions.
