This is the General BOATING Discussion forum.
Wanting free access to a section that has always been for people who support the site and pay premium?? Sounds pretty hypocritical coming from a bunch of mainly conservatives. SMH

This isn't a bus terminal. You don't have to announce departures.
Internet Brands moved it. They moved it behind the pay-wall part of the site because it's a political thread, and that's where the section exists. They are a corporation, here to make money. It's their show. We can choose to be here or not.
That thread had some very graphic imagery on it, and I'd speculate that they didn't want that image to come up with simple Google searches to the open part of OSO.

Yup. This... As much as I agree with the general sentiment this thread took, and that of the other thread in question, I agree with this more. As conservative and loud and proud as I am about supporting free speech, we, as a community, us powerboaters, don't really want the first thing people see when they first stumble across the forum is to see stuff like is in that original post about the incident. As we all know, a FEW people get pretty childish in their tantrums, particularly when it comes to politics, and that kind of crap can shun people away from what is suggested to be an already ailing forum. Putting it behind a paywall isn't about the money. I doubt they think powerboaters are going to be inclined to pay for a membership just to gain access to a bunch of political gnashing of teeth. Hell, I didn't even know there WAS a "politics" section until I was kinda forced to buy a membership. It's about some measure of control of the exposure we present to newcomers upon their initial entry.
Thanks. Brad.

If this were true.....why not simply delete the graphic image. I did not post it and thought myself that may be a bit much. I will add, don't be a smart azz with me. I never say much here, I came here long ago to observe and learn. Now my friend this is a sinking ship and what was done is done. I mentioned no names in my statement and am disappointed in the ones I see defending this. OSO much better off for this chit to be seen when googled eh.
Moderator remove the image and leave these Discussions in the bilge .

My personal opinion is that any specialty FORUM should have a POLITICS section and a general SPORTS section, open to All.
I like to go to the boating FORUMs to learn about boats and get to know fellow boaters. At my first couple of jobs, and in the
military in Sweden I used to avoid the most common SPORTS discussions, since I had played professional sports. The same
goes for politics. It was refreshing, when I moved to the U.S.A. 40 years ago, that nobody talked politics here. The Iran-Contra
scandal was pretty much the only thing that came up and then of course the Berlin Wall came down and that was talked about
a bit. In Europe, each nation has at least 7-8 parties in Parliament, and we got at least 3 coffee breaks outside of the lunchbreak
so once sports have been dealt with, mainly on Mondays, the rest of the week it's all about politics. By the time we were in our
upper teens we knew at least the names of, and what their objectives were, of 10 militias in Lebanon.
Many of us also went on to serve in the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces after our completed military draft service at home.
Personally, I enjoy talking sports with my friends in the U.S. They're both more knowledgeable and more honestly passionate
about the sport than most Europeans. When it comes to politics it's the other way around; I find most Americans to have a very
meager understanding of politics. It's like it wasn't taught properly in school or folks here only got into politics during Covid-19.
Many folks here voice opinions about Liberals, Libertarians, Socialists, Communists, Conservatives, Anarchists, Fascists, Nazis,
Religious Fundamentalists of All flavors and on and on; without having read one book about hardly any of these ideologies.
Sometimes I wonder, how many Americans hasn't lost loved ones in wars fought to save this nation from some ideology or the 'wrong type'
of dictator? Many wars have been against nations' regular poor folks, who were trying to get rid of a colonial power or a dictator who was
a puppet for Western corporate interests.
These are just some of the reasons that I really appreciate when a specialty FORUM has an OPEN section for SPORTS, POLITICS,
SEXXXY BABES or Marlboro Men for Our female Captains. On OSO, Scream & Fly, Hulltruth, Boatdesign or RDP, I come to enjoy the
passion among boaters, about boats & boating. If I wanted to vent about POLITICS or SPORTS there are plenty of better places
to do that at. Coach Little League, join a charity, church, political party, political interest organization, think tank, or run for office
and SERVE THE BOATING COMMUNITY plus ALL AMERICANS & HUMAN BEINGS around the World. If You do, You might find
Yourself invited to a Poker Run among Vikings or Canucks, like the SpeedOnTheWater boys we All appreciate.
Wish All Happy Continued Boating...
Btw, not to worry, even this 14-footer of ours has 24 degrees at the transom.

Local police department just made a statement that they were only in charge of traffic and had nothing to do with security and if anyone states otherwise they are just trying to cover their butts.
Lies lies lies is all this administration has .
