I own a 30 Motion with triple 2.5 280hp. 115 on gps just me and 110 mph with 5 in the boat. I/o are nice, sound cool but an o/b boat will crush the i/o in a drag race. You are on the water pull up next to another boat going 40 mph, you see the drive hammer down the i/o, my wife waves good bye as I hammer the two strokes. Not even close unless the other boat is packing big blower motors. Top speed may be close (twin 500's vs twin 280's)but it takes the i/o so long to get there. Gas milage is almost double on the o/b and faster and cheaper to rebuild. I have had a two stroke rebuilt in hours.

Default Ron P

Ron my 30 Spectre with 300X's runs 104 mph with 14.5X32's on GPS and I still have way too much water pressure as soon as I start raising the motors, I think I'll get 106 or 107 out of it. Laterz Mark

Everyone I have talked to with Ob say that they can run them harder and longer for more years than almost any other I/O. Dont forget that the OB has more power/weight than any IO.

I have allways had big power and Im afraid ill miss the sound of the big block. But a 2.5 sounds cool to. I think what I like about obs. is less maintenance .

I am used to the sound of 2500+hp blower motors in our drag cars and I got over that for my 2.5's just fine.
