Lee,
the brochures have been saying 4500 lbs for years. I never felt comfortable with that having towed various sized/weighted boats and then towing my 288, so I took my fully gassed up truck and boat and went to a state certified truck scale. I weighed the truck first to include my weight and full gas; then with the boat/trailer attached, and it too had just been topped off and had normal accessories onboard.
After subtracting 105 gallons (2002 had slightly smaller tank) at 6.25 lb per gallon (fuel weight varies between 6 lbs and 6.5 lbs depending on literature); subtracting full truck weight, my weight and full tanks; subtracting listed trailer shipping weight; 150 lbs for two batteries and about 50 lbs for anchor, tools, bumpers, stowed beverages and munchies, etc. I came up with approx. 5050 lbs which "felt" more like it when I tow it both empty and full (another 656 lbs).
Bryan Tuvell (fellow OSO devotee) then questioned the listed weight on his 26 DonziZX which listed at 5200 lbs on all brochures to that date. So he took his and under the same criteria +/-'s etc., his boat came in just under 6000 lbs. Donzi has just recently updated their 2003/4 brochures to reflect 5800 lbs for the 26Zx and probably for some of their other sizes as well.
I read an article in I think F&P mag early last year discussing layups etc. in a fiberglass oriented article, and they weighed two 19' hulls coming out of the mold. Both hulls were 150-160 lbs different. The writer stated that the differences between hull weights of identical molds varies exponentially as the length increases due to personnel spraying/laying varying amounts etc. each time a hull is put in the mold.
I know the 288 as well as the 32 have both undergone cuddy upgrades and other upgrades in recent years, yet the new "average" weights for literature have not been updated. Strangely enough the weight has typically been the one thing most folks hit the boat on, yet they won't change the brochures...

All that being said above, this can explain why two identical boats will have a faster boat with same power when factoring in the +/- 10% horsepower accuracy of individual motors. Plus 5-10% differences in weight...Just more tidbits to bring to the bar...

Thanx Reckless. They're some great numbers when you translate them to prop slip. That only comes out to 9.56%.
Almost 70 with only 425 horses. I think thats pretty impressive.
I had to put in about 525 hp to do that in my Formula.
Thanks again.
Dominating S/32,
I'm most interested in your numbers.
If any one knows someone with a single Dominator let me know some info.
I'm aware of the fact that a single 32 is around 72-3 with a 500 efi but I'm trying to get some hard data.
Keep 'em comin guys.

I love my 2000 28.8 It's all stock with a 502 I 'm running about 66 I would say at almost 5,000 rpm's stock 4blade bravo1 24P I just wish this boat was a true 70 Mph boat. I wanna hop it up a bit to see 70. But I'll be honest. When I'm running 29' Baja's with twins I really can't complain when i'm right on their swim platform hanging on.
Hey How come I can't view the pictures you guys are posting? says i need to be a gold member?

I'm surprised you're only getting 66 with the 502?....
