Did you see or hear that Branson offered something like $1.50 for the fleet? No that is NOT a missprint. He claims that is all that they paid for them, the rest was government subsidised.

I consider myself fortunate to have seen the Concorde at the Oshkosh airshow a couple years ago, not only on static display, but for takeoff and landing. It truly is an awe-inspiring aircraft and an engineering marvel. As far as I'm concerned, her retirement marks the end of the golden age of flight.

I remember my Dad taking me out to Dulles when they used to bring them in there, seems like forever ago. That was 60's I think. I do remember that there was NO civilization any where near the airport and everybody thought they were crazy for building the airport out there. Guess they did know a little something, huh?

I saw the first Concord at the Paris air show in '68 or '69 when I was in the Army in Europe. I don't the Concord was allowed to fly to the U.S. until the late '80 or early '90 because of the supersonic boom.
