I remember when some "stock" boats were going 55-70 Mph.
A 35 Cigarette Mistress with 400 Cyclones would go between 55-60 MPH on a good day. The 33 Fountains were a breakthrough at 70 MPH with 370 Mercruisers. A 38 Cig SS with twin 750 HP engines would be lucky to break 75.
Ahh, the Super Hawaii (originally Super Hero), I got to use a 34 footer with twin 365 Mercs in a Poker Run it ran 72 mph trimmed out but you had to put the tabs down and slow it to 65 or it would porpoise like frigging crazy.
One thing everyone seems to forget is, Ralph was the creator of the first offshore powerboat "Poker Run". He got the idea from when we used to do "poker runs" on dirt bikes.

It was the original Super Hero prototype, it wasn't quite perfected yet. I think it had something to do with the way the integrated swim platform was molded all the way down to the bottom, gave it a rounded edge off the rear of the hull.
I'll never forget it, we were running this all red gelcoat boat, we went by a channel marker with about 10 pelicans sitting on it, doing about 50, suddenly the whole red deck turned a offwhite grey and smelled of rotted fish. Everyone was screaming in the boat to stop, they were all covered in pelican poop. Everyone else in the Poker Run stopped to see why we were all diving out of the boat.
