[B]Bumpers are on a car, Fenders are on a Boat!! I think they are used to "Fend off the dock" not "Bump off the Dock"
Cars AND trailers have fenders too.
Years ago I called my local West Marine and ordered a trailer fender. I went in days after it was supposed to arrive to pick it up, and the lady went to the back and was back there for a long time. She finally came out and said it didn't come in. I was furious and said WHAT! I ordered it a week ago and it to held for me with my name in this store. She said I'm sorry sir, but I didn't see a fender with your name on it, can you show me in the catalog which one you ordered? When I got to the trailer section, she said ohh, a trailer fender.....She said I moved a trailer fender off the shelf looking for your fender.......
From then on, I called them bumpers.

Fenders without a doubt. Troutly, I am sure you have seen cases when someone used a fender as a bumper
(on an auto....car....vehicle).
PS, why does no one use this symble
It looks good to me
