Down 30 since New Years... started at 245, now 215.
Check this out, you guys are gonna think I'm nuts. Started smoking again, working on the boat 4-5 hours a night, 20 hours on the weekends... up the ladder, over the back seat, into the engine comp, back out, down the ladder. No time for beer, it just makes me drop stuff in the bilge anyway.
I rarely eat breakfast, pig out for lunch, no time for dinner. I keep a big jug of vitamin D milk in the garage fridge, so that keeps the protien level up.
Once I hit 200, I plan to quit smoking again and start an excerise plan, roller blades in the morning or something.
WTF... it works. Hate to say it, but cutting the beer intake has probably had the biggest effect.

The Key to Success
The key to success in ANYTHING is:
1) Have a plan that is PROVEN to work for you.
2) Have the discipline to stick with the plan.
Most people are searching for #1 but they fail because of #2.
Just my two-cents...

Protein Power
HebertNecessity,
Everything that you want to know can be found at Protein Power. You need to buy and read the book .
The diet is all about body chemistry. I don't understand all of the medical/technical terms, but I believe it and it works.
Before I started this "diet", I had Acid Reflux. I was eating Pepcid AC every night. After three days on the "diet", I stopped taking the pills and I no longer have the Acid Reflux.
Before this "diet", I would hear that a baked potato is good for you, but the cheese, butter, sour cream, bacon bits, etc. that you put on it was bad. This "diet" is just the opposite. I can eat the cheese, (real) butter (not marg.), bacon, eggs, red meat, but NOT THE POTATO!
The only down side is the money. Protein is more expensive that Carbs. We now eat meat and veggies instead of bread. Our food bill has gone way up.
All I know, is that it works for me, and I have the discipline to stick with it!

Clay: you are absolutely right! We started the Atkins "diet" two weeks ago, and itis phenomenal! I have lost only about 6 lbs, but more importantly I have lost two inches off my waist already. For me, I could care less what I weigh, I just want to be lean and trim. My goal is only to lose 15-20 lbs, and I'm on track to do that pretty fast! I like the fact you can eat as much as you want, you just limit the carb's severely. I have friends and aquaintances that have had miraculous results! It is worthwhile!
gotta go eat my 3 egg omellete with cheese and bacon now!!!

Atkins rules. Still haven't added exercise, but got my bloodwork back from annual physical (no "finger" this year - only every other year says the doc). Last Feb my cholesterol was 268. BP was running 155/97. This year (early April, after a full month of Atkins) cholesterol was 192, BP 134/72.
Liver function numbers still running triple the max normal range, but doc says he wants to see it after another 6 months before he gets interested in further investigations (I had liver biopsy two yrs ago and he said nothing alarming yet, but weight needed to come off).
On the right track, I'll say...

Husband is on Atkin's, and has lost 40 lbs in 2 months. He's at 225 now. Wants to lose about another 30.
I've lost 35 lbs by just drinking more water, stopped piggin out on junk food, not eatting after 9pm, and if I do I munch on fruit. I still don't eat Breakfast, eat a small lunch, and a small dinner. No exercising at all.
