New to florida, Who to choose for insurance?
I just moved to the Clearwater area and now its time to start changing everything over starting with insurance. Going for my Florida license today. I made a few calls last week but as soon as they hear boat, thru transom exhaust, the conversation comes to a quick end accept for apologies on there behalf and they try to get all the other vehicles. I have an 85 30ft velocity thats been custom-ed quite abit, 88Gt mustang, 2002 Convertible TA, 97 F150 4+4. I'd like to go through one company for everything and get a volume deal hopefully. I hope some local boys can chime in and lend a hand.
Thanks
Chris

Congratulations on the move. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and have a blast!
I came up empty looking for boat insurance locally. Very few would touch it, or if they did if wasn't an agreed-value policy or the price was ridiculous. I ended up with Boat-US, the rates were reasonable and it's good policy.
Give some of the advertisers on this board a shout, like Sy at Total dollar or Bill at BlackAdar...

I got quoted by Boat US at something like $3800 a year! This is for a 17 year old boat. Threw that quote in the garbage. It is hard to find homeowners insurance in Florida sinc Hurricane Andrew. Allstate doesn't want to write any. I think the state has a place to call to help find homeowners.

Call AAA for homeowners, stay away from Citizens Ins. they will beat you to death. I use Progressive on Harley, Geico on the boat and Windsor Ins for my Biz. vehicles. I shop around a lot.
Good luck

My Pantera is with Progressive. They had the best rate by far.
My boat doesn't have through transom exhaust
I pay about $2800 for agreed value. Just remember to adjust the value every year. Your price will continue to rise if you stay firm with that agreed value every year...
