Thanks Dr. I will try and call you tomorrow during business hours, The turning at higher speeds I was told would be a problem, as well as docking, but I like to get all my info from people that actually have the drives, Simple and over built is always better in my book, I apprieciate your help. Hey, that's my boat... Hey, that's my girls!

I've done sweepers at 50-60 without any problems. The boat will not turn as sharply as with out drives because it is rudder steered instead of directional thrust. You do have to trim down a little for the turn to keep the props digging in well, but that's all. Never considered Arenson because of price and safety. I go to the beach in the picture a lot and could never do that with Arenson. Also, it's nice not having to think in terms of "dollars per hour" for drive maintenance/repair. I was speaking with Steve about XR drives. Seems you have to do a "rebuild" every 120-140 hrs to the tune of $1200 a drive or you will replace it by 170. That's $10 an hour per drive! My friend with a Donzi 45 just blew his first XR at 170 hours and I told him to expect the other two to go shortly. We have been talking about a Pulse for him since he got the boat. Looks like it may happen sooner than later.

Around the docks in no problem. Just drive it like any other rudder steering boat. I never used the wheel with my bravos, so this was no change for me.

Hope this helps...

Mongo

I will find out more this weekend on how the Pulse Drive works on my Cigarette. When it come to turns my philosophy is" take it easy". The only time you go fast in a turn is when you are in a race so for pleasure boating I personally do not see the reason to be doing fast sharp turns.

Don't get me wrong, it will turn sharp. I'm with the Doc on this one. never have a reason to make sharp turns. If you are towing a tuber, you're probably going around 25-35, not the range Jassman is talking about.

Mongo

PS The new motors are in and running! Major cleaning and some prop and rudder changes, then TEST DRIVE!
