One of the turbo failer problems is due to faulty injectors dumping fuel and filling the crankcase. This dilutes the oil and the turbo is first to go. For more info check out www.thedieselstop.com
As far as the Duramax, my buddy has a new one and has gone through 3 motors!
Ford has been buying back some trucks so you may get lucky. Get a new one, I love mine!

The attorney we are going to use has been succesful in getting Ford to take back two vehicles from people we know. They dropped the vehicles off and Ford wrote them a check for the purchase price.

Check this site out. They have an article about the new 6.0 diesels being ticking time bombs.

Good luck with the repairs. I have heard some great things about the engine/tranny combo.

I'll say that the older 6.9L Powerstroke was indestructable in the work truck I used to drive. Carried 5000lb + loads everyday for 5 years and never had trouble. Tranny did go at about 110K. Personally I like the Cummins in the Dodge. A couple of friends have had good luck with them (even modified with 350+hp).

Havasu Cig,
Good luck with the Ford. My last truck, an F-250 extended cab had the 7.3 PSD. No problems but the ride was pretty bouncy.
Think about a GMC Crew Cab P/U SRW with the Duramax and the Allison ZF-6 Manual Transmission. Its as big as the Suburban inside and tows great. I got 4X4 for the few steep ramps I have to deal with.
22 mpg highway, 17mpg towing

I was a Ford guy in the early 90's, left and went to GMC in 92, get a new vehicle every year, and have been overall satisfied with the General. I have 2 2500 hd Duramax's not one problem on either, and just ordered a Ford 3500 dually crew cab with the 6.0 litre, I wish I could back out now.

Whew, thats good to hear, mine will be here in middle of August, that makes me feel better, it was a hard decision to switch, I always liked the way Fords look over the Gmc's, but the ride was always better in the GM, I will keep everyone informed, it will be going on a 1500 mile round trip sometime in September. Thanks Jeff

Warparty, is your truck 2 wheel drive? I have a 3/4 Suburban, 4.10 rear 4X4. I get 10 in mostly city driving, and 8 towing a 46 Black Thunder (around 16,500 with trailer and fuel). BTW, it pulls great!
