Default Ford 6.0 powerstroke problems!?!

Just ran across this link from a different truck forum i'm on and was shocked at all the posts about '03 problems. You won't believe how some of these guys are being treated my their ford dealers. One guy said ford told his dealer to STOP working on his truck. The guy was told to go to a different dealer. Oh, and looks like ford's rip of of GM's tow hual is not working too great. One guy had a first gear downshift to 4000 rpm that caused him to jackknife. Crazy stuff!

We use an '03 6.0 PSD for towing the 36' Bacardi Silver. It has 10,000 miles on it and everything was going great until our return trip from running the kilo in NC. Then, while passing through Savannah everything just stopped. According to Ford, there were three major problems with the initial 6.0 PSDs. Cold starts, faulty injectors and a turbocharger issue. We ended up with diesel fuel in the crankcase and are still waiting on a final resolution.

That's exactly why I looked around and bought a low mile (11k) 7.3. I'm sure they will have the bugs worked out by next year, but I'll let someone else do the Beta testing.

There was a big post on this not too long ago. Some of the issues sounded pretty major! Bad, bad start for what is supposed to be a flagship engine.

They sure do you have their problems . HOpefuly they get thm figured out soon.

Wally, The Chevy( alison) trans did the same thing on most first year aplications . It was very common for them to down shift at very fast highway speeds !

Y'all buckle up now !

I had an injector go bad on my '03 with only 1,200 miles.
Quick fix at the Dealer and everything good.

Had a check engine light go on last weekend coming back from Lake Havasu, AZ -- but the truck was running fine. At the Dealership now being looked at. 3,000 miles.

New computer re-flash update just released by Ford -- which will hopefully be a fix for several of the early-build models. Hard cold-starts, rough idle, AC not cold at idle, loss of power below 2M RPMs. I haven't had any of these issues.

Hoping my Dealer hangs in if the going gets rough.

Despite the early warning signs.....I love this motor and tranny combination. Hauls major A$$. Barely know the boat's back there.

Mine has been fine for 11,000 miles. It idles poorly but if that is my only problem I'll take it!
