Official Kaama Scarab progress report
The fuel tanks were foamed in place in the 4 tank bays, and water had collected in the foam which pitted the original tanks.
Previously I dug the foam out to loosen up the first three tanks by hand, which was quite a job ( 3 hours each). I pulled the fourth out with my new hoist in about 10 minutes, and the foam came out in large pieces in about another 10 minutes.
Today I spent 5 hours in the engine bay with a pressure washer and soap. The bilge and 4 saddle tank bays are now clean and almost ready for paint.
I am going to install the new fuel tanks with 2 part foam, and will coat them with epoxy where they are not visible. Hopfully in the next week or 2- then the engines go back in.
There are PVC pipes under the gunnels which are used for wiring, hydraulic lines etc. and I am going to replace them (Saturday???) while the tanks are out. I really like the way this was done, eliminating the need for clamps, etc.

Ronnie -- In all the years I have been asking, you have never posted a pic. I am going to New orleans next weekend. Do I have to come take them myself?
