Well I have finally decided to buy another truck, but thought that I would ask what type of experiences anyone else has had with the new 6.0 Powerstroke motor from Ford first before finalizing the deal.
If anyone is looking for a good deal on a nice tow vehicle my current one is up for sale in the classifieds.

Do a search under the General Discussion. There was a pretty detailed discussion of what the problems were. And there definetly were problems.

Honestly, do a search on this. There has not been much positive feedback on the 6.0L from those of us who USE a Diesel for what it is build for.
Can't go wrong with a Duramax though! It will be the only motor in my next truck.

If there are problems with the Ford, I just had a great experiance with Chevy. I towed a 47' Fountain from Tulsa to Miami and back to Tennessee. The boat and trailer are 24,500lbs. and I averaged 10.3 mpg. After I dropped the boat in Tennessee, I got 20 mpg.

I have an '03 6.0. I love the motor and the Allison trans with the tow/haul mode. There have been many reported problems with this motor though. Check out www.thedieselstop.com There is a separate forum for the 6.0. Some people have had nothing but trouble, others run flawless. Mine has a few issues, but not bad. I would go for an '04, but make sure the engine build date is also '04, not '03.

Sydwayz,
Thanks for the compliment on my 95 F350. It's been a great truck.
I just checked the message board at dieselstop.com. Sounds like the problem with the new Ford 6.0 has hopefully been corrected if you order a new one from the factory. Apparently the 2003 engines had a lot of problems but the newest 2004's being built have a new setup correcting the problems.
I have looked at the Chevy as well, but here atleast in Texas the resale seems to be much higher on the Ford. Also like the exterior looks of the ford better, although the interior of the Chevy is nicer.
