WOW!!!

I decided to help one of the local charities for the holidays so I decided to try on my clothes for proper fit and really see what I had and needed in closets and outdoor storage..

Well------Here's what the are pikkin up in the morning..

7 large Bags of clothing-- I even found some of the shirts when I was a "Flower Child" ...AND==> a pair of Levi bell bottoms...

I do the same thing every year. They say if you haven't worn something in the past year get rid of it. So that's my rule of thumb

We have taken two pick-ups full in the last few weeks. My wife's parents sold their ski house and have been bringing down stuff from when she was our daughters age. Add that to the annual "toy cleanout" for our daughters stuff and it really adds up.

THE ONE YEAR RULE.

That's not me. I am in the process of getting ready to move to a new house in a week. I am moving out of the house I grew up in and later bought from Dad. We moved into the house in 1967. When Dad sold me the house it meant that he never had to clean out all of his collected packrat stuff fro the attic and basement. I never took my packrat stuff out of the house when I moved out, and it was still there when I moved back in.

I now have the accumulated packrat stuff of my Dad, my youth, and my "adultness".

I have been moving stuff into storage for about a year trying to make room in the house, and later to start prepping the house to sell.

I currently have:

* A 1200 square foot house packed full of my possessions (it was my GrandDad's and had HIS packratness since 1944 and now has been filled TO THE CEILING as a storage unit for my stuff).
* A 12x30 rental storage unit filled to the gills with "seasonal" stuff. Can't even get in there to get the hardtop for my SL to put on it.
* A 40'x40' "square" of storage in a warehouse in Bowling Green of my "project vehicles" and associated parts.
* 12' wide by 22' high worth of the HD shelving at the back of my factory filled with engine blocks and other heavy parts (the shelves are 34" deep).
* A 40' box semi-trailer filled with all of my Dad's garage contents from his home where he was living when he died.
* Half of a 4200 sf commercial unit filled with boats and jetskis and bikes and their parts and accessories.
* 20 feet of shelving at the unit next door to the above commercial unit filled with the rest of my boat and bike parts.
* I have a 32 foot Haulmark car trailer in my driveway and it is half full of "home junk" like toys and closet stuff.
* In a 15' x 40' storage bay in a pole barn I have 3 loads from the above trailer loaded into it on pallets.

My house still looks just as full of crap as it did when i started.

And I haven't taken the FIRST ITEM out of my attic yet...

I gotta get some kind of therapy or something.
I need to learn how to turn loose of some of this stuff.
Isn't this some kind of disease??
