Legal assistance needed-Patriotism
Immediately after learning that Saddam was captured I posted this on another website (actually it it,s called a "Powerboat" list" ) in case others had not seen the news yet.
"Subject: Sadadam Captured"
"God Bless our troops-Let's hope the terrorizem stops..
marc"
======
Today I received , in part, the following response from the webmaster:
"The Powerboat List is for the discussion of POWERBOAT RACING. Not National or International Politics or elections, Space Shuttle Launches, Religions of any denomination, Professional Stick-and-Ball sports or Intercollegiate Athletics of any kind.
Please refrain from off-topic posts. Those List members who continually violate the policy of off-topic posts will be subject to removal from this List. "
==========
This is my position:===>
Webster states:Main Entry: pa·tri·ot·ism
Pronunciation: 'pA-trE-&-"ti-z&m, chiefly British 'pa-
Function: noun
Date: circa 1726
: love for or devotion to one's country
=======
Question:
1) Do I have legal recourse to sue the webmaster for violation of the 1st ammendment????
2) Does the word Patriotism fall under the constraints as noted by the webmaster above?
3) Does the APBA support such a position as taken by the webmaster?
4) Besides dropping from the website (not OSO) what should I do?
Needless to say as an American, I'm truly pissed.....
Thanks guys and girls....

I can understand being pissed, I would be too.
That said, as far as I see it, there's nothing you can do. A web forum owner can delete posts as they see fit - they own it. End of story.
They own the sandbox, they make the rules. You just play in it. If you don't like the rules, find a different sandbox to play in.

Being a former moderator from another site I can relate to their frustration. They try to keep things related to the subject of power boating. (that is why were all here) And on the other side they have to deal with an angry member over a matter of opinion of something said. There has been a lot of bashing (that’s winter for you) and the moderators walk a thin line between what is and is not appropriate. They have to face the possibility of losing a paying member over comments made between members. I just wanted to put my 2 cents in. Should OSO be a pay site? Should OSO change Current Affairs to OT discussions section? I’m much too new of a member to have any input on that decision. I don’t think they want to poof anyone’s thread or post but let’s face it I have seen some things posted (no doubt out of anger) that in my opinion are uncalled for. I have to tell you this is the best forum of this format that I have ever had the privilege of being a member. I admit I’m as guilty as can be of posting off-topic threads. However the info I attained was very useful as I’m sure it has been for others.
Just my 2 cents worth, keep the change.

If you were a Hot girl trying to take your clothes off I could represent you. Unfortunately you do not enjoy those same protections in private forums. There are no constitutional protections for that speech.
I fight the most valiant fight........ the right to enjoy titties and beer at the same time!!!!
