I'd vote for the regulator also. Had this happen on my own boat a few years back.

C'mon man, put some bait on the hook at least!
I talked to old owner, he saw it do that too. I'm thinking you guys pegged it as the regulator headed south. I'm gonna change it. The boat has 2 batteries and cranks fine. Sounds like 1 of the diodes in the rectifier block is breaking down.
Thanks to all for the help. Going to get the casting numbers off the heads block and intake today to try and figure out exactly what I have here.
