14 total Supras within 300 miles from me...These cars are few and far between.

Why did Toyota stop production on such a hot car? I heard that Lexus was going to start making them a few years ago under a new name

Included 2 new turbos, starter, valve stem seals, gaskets, timing belt, power steering pump, and on and on. Car runs great now dynoing between 412 - 415 RWHP. I have thought about going to a single turbo which could jump the RWHP to over 700 but do not want to deal with turbo lag.

I understand your concern about turbo lag but I have a single turbo monster using a T51-BB and I gotta tell you that turbo lag is not bad at all. The acceleration rush from 100 MPH up at 25-PSI is nothing like you could possibly experience in any other car. I would do a roll on race with anything that had the guts to try it. I usually don't waste time with cars though. Beating these 1300cc crotch rockets is the new game.

Roby and ST31,
How much boost (realistically) can you run on pump gas ?

I was on a web site not too long ago and basically anything over 650 hp (if I remember correctly) you could not use pump gas. Not that 650 is too shabby.

This is really dependant on the head work. Stock you can push about 20 on 93. Keep in mind that the supra engine can take some serious abuse with a smile. I have run 22.5 PSI on 93 and NOS octane Boost. Once I did lose a WG hose and it spiked to 30-PSI for a few seconds before I know what was going on. It took the pounding detonation in stride as the ECU was retarding all it could. No problem, no damage. Yes you can run 650-HP on pump gas keep in mind that this is 650 horsepower at the wheels. Anything past 650 HP you are getting in to APU mode here and fuel system upgrades and racing gas will be required. If you are just looking to kick some butt and be dependable then the BPU upgrades like ST31s car will roast any street Z06, Cobra or any other car like that.

Things to watch out for on the Supras: Yes they have the most over engineered motor in the history of internal combustion. Those blocks are a work of art. However the drive train, specifically the clutches are weak. I use the triple disc TRD unit and it has held up the best even though I'm on my 4th set. My car is high miles now and since I'm getting married in the spring I will be selling it to my brother. Supras are fun if you get you a 650-RWHP unit then you will develop an ego that you can't be touched by anything. This is because you won't be beat. Never in all of my years of building performance engines have I seen a block that can make & take so much horsepower. Some of the big guys are now approaching 1300-HP at the crank with just a 2835cc. (454 engines have 7439cc for comparison) Just for laughs I would love to put a couple of these units in a 38' Scarab and go after the Apache bravo butt or whatever you call it.

That's what I thought Roby. I was talking to my brother about that the other day. He has a C5 and was considering a Supra. Those bottom ends are simply the best I have ever seen. I have some videos from racingflix.com which are sweet as can be. That whistle from the turbos is like music. My father in law was into the old Dodge Hemis and when I showed him the videos he freaked out. He said "Yep, when you hear that whistle just step away. Those things are fast." He fixed up a 94' RX7 for a buddy of mine and that thing rocked but not like the Supras. Toyota should really bring that car back.

Very nice. Really like the TRD hood and the Euro headlights.
