OR,
Maybe two or three small grab handles installed with bolts and backer plates, like a ladder, with grip-tape applied to the top, just enough to hook the ball of your foot onto.

Can't recall what kind of cabin door you have on a 302.
Would some foldup steps fit on the cabin door?
I'll try to draw what I am talking about (no autocad on this computer..).

Crap, Corel Draw is not my forte.
What I got in mind is steps made to match the door, hinged across the top to fold DOWN against the face of the door, or even INTO the face of the door if you wanted to remake the door (it is wood on a 302, right?). Then when you want to use them, you lift one of them (any of them since they are linked) and when you pull one out all of them come out (cause the sides have a linkage on them) and when fully out, the linkage pops into a slot so they don't fold down. Then you use them. When you are finished, you lift and press the linkage bar out of the "lock" slot and they fold down flush again...
If you like the idea I will draw it. If not, I'm not gonna waste time in Corel Draw (I could always sketch it on paper and take a digipic of it)

Sorry Jon my wife stepped on my Nikon digital last year and distroyed it and the pics there in. I only just got my new Sony 5.0 meg pix digital replacement. If you like what I did I will try this weekend to get some pics from different angles. Rick G.
