I too, grew up on hydrostreams and checkmates, and now have a Velocity 26' w/ an HP500. The Hydrostream taught me more about how to "Drive" a boat and prepared me for my Velocity. Throttle down and trim up!

Here is a Velocity with a big johnson and lots of nos. He can run around 90 when on the button. I have been next to him at that speed and it's a good running boat. He runs the Ohio River with the barges and cruisers, with no problem if he's careful. Last time I saw him, he had a 50 merc on it while he was rebuilding the johnson.

Question 21 1/2" X-Dimension...

Kent...Are you sure about that X? Usually the exhaust would need to come through the deck if it was that high. On another subject...The first 22' Velocity was built in 1984. It was a black gelcoat outboard race boat named "Tabu", in Stock Class, rigged with twin 200 Mercs and won its share of races. "Captain-Maintained", owned by Bill Kaye out of Chicago, also rigged with twin 200 Mercs, proceded to win Steve Stepp the National Championships in 1985, 86 & 87. If you could see some of the old video of this boat running, you would NOT believe how well this boat ran! The Challenger 21'(By George Linder) was created in(I believe) 1976. This was the first year of Mercury & OMC's V-6 engines, which were 175 h.p. models only. One was not copied from the other. Gar

I'll measure it next time I am over there; but I am sure it is pretty high. The exhaust was custom fabbed(good excuse to go dry) Maybe BajaDave will get out the tape measure. He had to thow away the old engline hatch and make a new one (notice it higher?)

Can't wait till it warms up a little here. Took the Donzi out and had to put my t-shirt back on after a couple fast runs.
