Single or Twin
NO not Sisters .....Boats .... I am the guy that was looking for the Stryker and found one in Alabama but have not yet got to go see it. I am also looking at Wellcraft (older) Baja's Formula's and Just found a Conquest that looks nice ..... The problem is I am not sure about single or Twins ....it looks like I am going to land in the 27-30 foot range but def not less than 25 ....My budget is prob 40K ... And I am not looking for 80mph ..65 or 70 would do but i want something dependable and not due a rebuild every 150 hrs ....I found a 90 Formula that has twinn 454's and this boat looks spotless ...but has 950 hours ... the guy has the drives pulled every year ...its clean ... thanks Mike ...

I'm not really sure what your asking? In the size range of boat your looking @ a single can get you to the mph you want. Any boat can be a problem. with twins you run the odds with twice the parts to fail. With a single your putting more load on the parts. so what was your ?

Personally I am happy with twins. Would not want to drive a boat 29' or over in a marina or other tight area with a single motor. Besides nice to have atleast one motor to crawl back on if one decides not to start.

I really like the Formula .....but it weighs 7500 lbs ...The others are prob around 5000 ....So one 400 hp I would think would get the same performance . its prob an economic issue .....I can see 10-20K for a new engine setup when the time comes ....but double that ..Yikes ..Which is no problem if your into that. My other question was about the 950 hours on the Formula. The owner sez I should be good until about 1500 then maybe topend job... ..any thoughts .....anyone look at the pics ? Thanks ...Mike

If you are inland go with a single you can call someone if you break down, also with twins you are going to have twice as much maint, more gas, Oil, drive oil,god forbid if you hit something, twice the damage.
for your price range, look at a 28 sunsation, 27 Fountain, 27 baja,...... with 502mpi mag should push those boats to 65-69 all day.
