The two biggest cons in my mind about aluminum are:
1) you have to constantly replace the rivets.
2) the aluminum slowly gets dented up over time.
BUT IT SOUNDS NEAT GOING OVER THE WATER... CAN YOU SAY LOUD?

In all honesty this thread is great, the history is incredible and we have two of the "deans of Offshore"
