I had 2 GTP's. both new and company cars. The first one had transmission problems at about 70K, this was the "first year model". The second one,'98 is still in service with the guy I sold it to. I used premium mostly, 87 on long stretches on highways.
I love 'em. I would have bought a third one, but I wanted navigation and went with a TLS. Not as much fun to drive as the GTP.

Mpally,
I bought a used 2001 GT with 37k on it. In a year and a half I have 86k on it now. I drove it easy after changing to Bosch quad 4 plugs and averaged 29.7mpg over 19 tanks of gas. I work 102mi from home, 98% highway. To get the good milage I need to keep it at 70mph.. other wise the mpg drops to 24/27 mpg. My best tank so far was 31.9 and backed it up with 31.4mpg.
It does have a few squeaks.. door panels mostly, but rides great. Burned up the stock Goodyears at 85k and switched to Michelin, but now my milage has dropped.
I know of a few guys that run the GTP and pumped them up to around 450hp.. not sure what they did, but they do visit the transmission shop often...
I would buy another GT, a lease turn in is the cheapest way to get one..

GTP ...
Regular gas is ok 89. octane super or premium gas is mixed with ethanol to increase octane. end result is to fast a flash point and a lean burn condition which causes a check engine code at the o2 sensor .. bottom line is run what ever you want .. the cheaper the better the spark knock sensor will accommodate if there is any ping or knock.. the computer will work it out..
hope this helps..
Bob..
Ps was a Gm asst service manager..

It is a 2000 with 33,000 mi on it. It is basically loaded, leather, roof, heads up display, power everything, etc. They want $13,990 for it. I am getting rid of my truck because I am getting ready to buy a house relatively soon. I drive 25 mi each way to work and gas is costing me a small fortune. I want something that gets decent gas mileage. It would somewhat defeat the point to get rid of my truck and get a car that needs 91 octane. But I do like the looks of the car. I have not test drove the car yet. What would be a good starting point as far as price?

Stay Away from these.
The GTP will get decent mileage if you keep your foot out of the GAZ.

Price
Spoke With F&I manager at the dealership today..we are selling 03 GT2s for 10500 w/35k he said the nice price on your GTP should be @9995.00-10995.00 if its really nice and ya just gotta have 12000.00 ish is OK
We have really good luck with these the engines are about bomb proof and the only issue we have seen is the bearings in the super chargers make some noise after 200+K if I didnt have a demo Id own one!!!
