boat Launch Backup lights tahoe/yukon

Are you guy's mounting the lights to the truck or to the housing? I was concerned about how the lights would line up if I hard mounted them to the roof.
I have taken the covers off and at some point Chevy defiantly intended for light to be there. There is the remnants of a mounting bracket and even an adjusting screw to adjust the beam up and down. I searched everywhere, through dealers and aftermarket guy's and no one has them. I even have a customer that builds truck bodies for emergency vehicles (paramedics, ambulance's etc.) and he had nothing that fit. Any ideas or details would be very helpful.

In the past I had work lights mounted on a toolbox in the bed of my truck, a nice "friendly" police officer told me to cover or remove those lights or I would get a ticket. So check the law in your state about rear facing white lights.

They cannot do anything if they are off , besides mine are not noticeable.
I see Tractor trailers with pairs of backfiring lights
and they have been know to turn them on, if you forget to dim your high beam
