Lotoparty you are the man, But I still didn't learn anything.
So what do you guys think
98 50' Nortech tripp 850's #5's 95-100 mph for $250 ish.
or
01 42 OL 1100 Cobras 6's 120-125 mph $350 ish.
Right now I am leaning Nortech, a 100K is a lot of coin and the Nortech is more raft up party friendly.

nortech bigger with more reliable power and 100k less is that a question? for that extra 100k i will build you motors that will make it faster then the ol. and then you would have the best of both worlds.

I don't think we will get 25 mph out of it, but I hear what you are saying. I'll keep you in mind for the rebuilds but I will be doing most of the wrench turning on it unless it breaks in the summer when I'm too busy fixing motorcycles then I'll have to farm some of it out.
I am just a little worried about a 6 year old boat but I hear most of it was on fresh water. And it's not a Bayliner.

Well, add $60k to that 50' Nortech for the F550 you'll need to tow it
And I hope you have a good driving record. It'll cost at LEAST $4500 a year to insure either. Add to that the $10k+ a year or so for maintenance, gas for the triples.....
It may be even more so "raft up party friendly". LOL!
The $250k is the easy part But having said that, IF the $350k was a stretch, I'd go with the Nortech, just cause these boats cost a lot more to run than a 42 Sonic.
I'm jealous. Both boats will be fine, but a 50'er. WOW, would that take some time to get used to.
Which leads me to 1 question. Anyone have a full cover for a 50' boat? Do you need to hire migrant workers or recruit school kids to help you in the summer time? That's a lot of canvas.

My F350 psd dually will get it home then it's on the lift 99% of the time.
I will be doing all maintenance myself.
My driving record couldn't be better.
I pay $3500 for the Sonic's insurance so a $1000 or so is OK.
I am having a 500 gal. fuel tank put in at the house in the next 2 weeks so I can get 93 oct at $1.75 a gal.
My friends use to put the gas in the Sonic but now that I will need Hi test and am putting the tank at the house I just wont pay for any of the bar tabs now
As far as the 8 more feet, it's just going to be harder to get into small spots. My wife already said she didn't like the yellow on the OL and rather save some $$ because she knows when I get back with the Nortech I am already going to know what I want next

I know I'm going to regret getting rid of the Sonic, I have never had a problem with it, but I have been racing since I was 5 and gave it up to save my body and have more fun with the family.
In 98 I had a Scarab that did 80 sold it in 2000 for the Sonic that will do 75 on a good day. That was fine then but now if you can't hit 100 you are bringing up the rear in a poker run. I hate not running up front, I know it's stupid and dumb but I hate having my a s s handed to me. The Nortech may not be the fastest thing out there but god dammit I'll get there in style.
I just need the new lighter boats like the 39 OL doing 102 with 525's to get into my price range. 3-5 years thats the plan.
