Default Hot Rod Boat Transport... opinion needed.

First... anyone used them?

They quoted:
26 Sonic from VA to MT, 2309 miles.
Deadhead from MT to AZ, 1332 miles.
37 Active Thunder from AZ to VA, 2383 miles.

$5500. This is roughly $1.17/Mile when pulling a boat.
This is reasonable, I know.

Splitting this will cost me $2750.

Only problem is, the agreed value of my boat is about $15K over the coverage that Hot Rod Boat Transport carries.

Need opinons.

Other option, is meeting Todd at LOTO, I drag my the Sonic to LOTO, and drag the Active Thunder back to VA myself (w/BobbyB, and we get to go boating at LOTO for a weekend). Which will probably cost me about $1000. I think I want to take advantage of this, and go boating in LOTO for a weekend, in my new boat.

I guess I need a viable option for shipping the 26' Sonic from LOTO to Missoula, MT, 1620 miles.

Gordo, you still interested?

That quote looks good the best I found 3 years ago was a dollar a mile from CA to WA.

Sorry, just reread your first post. Unless they have enough insurance, I would look elsewhere

They should'nt have a problem getting a temporary insurance rider(sp?) for the extra coverage needed...Also with the price of fuel $1.17/mile is a steal

Before using any company, I would confirm the price includes fuel surcharge. That can be another 6 to 9 percent and maybe even more. The fuel surcharge changes very often. This fuel surcharge is often not mentioned by the company assuming the customer is supposed to know this. When it comes time to pay the tab, there are no suprises. Stan.

The price is great if they are reliable.

We need a Transport/Travel thread on the main forum page. It is amazing the amount of transport among the members.

This would facilitate transporters being able to review whats going where and bid appropriately. Especially if they are looking for back-hauls.
