Grand Haven set to host power boat races (from the local paper)
Directly from the Grand Haven Tribune (from about the first of April or so)
"A Lake Michigan power boat race held last Labor Day weekend off Grand Haven's shore won't be back this year, but another group is planning to hold a similar event a couple of weeks earlier.
The West Michigan Power Boat Assocation plans to hold an offshore race on the weekend of Aug. 13-15. The association was granted approval for the event Monday by the Grand Haven City Council.
However, the group's plan for a boat parade on Washinton Avenue on the evening of Friday, Aug. 13, may have to be re-routed, following a recommendation from city administration. Community Services Director See Garcia said the parade would interfere with a downtown sidwalk sale at the same time.
Council did approve the exclusive use by the association of nearly all of the Minicipal Marina's boat slips during the event.
Organizers estimate that 30-40 boats will participate in the Great Lakes Offshore Super Series Boat Race, and about 100,000 spectators will turn out for it.
The lake race route will run south of the pier and by the state park and City Beach. The event will also feature downtown boat displays on Saturday, Aug. 14."
SWEET!!! Sounds like it's actually OFFICIAL now.
So, who plans on racing??
Who plans on attending to watch from the water??
Oh, and who is the West Michigan Power Boaters Association?? Lived and boated here all my life and have never heard of them. Anyone local (or a racer perhaps) have the skinny on this group?

Yea Dave, hit the sack I'll be there, need a ride Mike? Getting ready for LOTO, we need a Thread soon to start the phone list and Big Dicks run. Trailer is almost done, it will look and fit 110% better now. It has been a royal pain taking it on and off to measure but it will be worth it.
