there is something to be said about having fun and drowning
your life reastion will be different when it gets to be your turn
however, reality and common sense should prevail. especially when PLANNING to be stupid. Might be a good idea to PLAN stupidity sooner.
why not take TWO pontoons and tie off
Because god knows 90% of the boats will NOT tye off wiht a toon.
I had one try a few years ago. they were trying when I was not looking.
Asked them for a $10,000 tye up fee!!
Told them no way in hell is that thing getting close to my boat!

Someone at least give the guy some credit for thinking ahead. Either someone shows and drives the boat, or one of the passengers will get drunk enough to drive it themselves.
Good luck on your designated dork hunt. And good job being responsible!

OK, so the "Sign me up" comment was not needed.
But I was serious about 20 people stuffing that toon at the 3 1/2 mm of the GG arm.
Happens every holiday weekend.

Having been there this past weekend, I do not think this is a smart idea. Granted the no wake zone for the weekend takes forever to get to PC when they have it in place, the water will still be too big at times for an overloaded pontoon. You are looking for an accident. Sure, normal operation, you may be just fine with 20 people. Imagine if a storm whips up. People are going to haul ass out of PC, the water is going to get huge, and THEN, you have the storm to deal with.
I have some thoughts about the whole Drinking and Driving thing and responsibility. I will keep them to myself, and not preach here on OSO, however, I did start an interesting poll about D&D in the off-topic section that had quite some good insight about how we all are. Resposibility is PARAMOUNT when you are boating, or just plain anything.

This should give you some idea of the boat wakes in that area and how well an overloaded pontoon will fare:

Mpally,
We had a 24' Tri-toon for years as a party barge... you remember?
Leave early, stay late, and pack light... you'll be fine as long as you have a sober / LOTO experienced driver. Keep the weight away from the front and this will help keep you from stuffing the poon-toon, you will surely get wet but I say you'll be fine. I would help you out in a second, but I will not be down for the holiday weekend. Be safe bro... Talk to ya soon!
Regards

Wow, a little harsh on me huh? Some of you guys need to re-read the post. First of all, we have two boats. There will not be more than 10-12 people on the pontoon. Second of all, I guess I should have just said screw it, let one of the drunk bastards drive the think home. I guess this is what I get for trying to be a responsible boater huh? Yes, will be arriving early and leaving late. And we are only going to Bridgeport.
