Too cute!! That's the spirit ....get the girls interested in boats and racing VERY young. She will make some guy a wonderful boatchick wife someday. It's amazing, with gas prices today, I'm thinking more how to conserve with the cars and errands -- so we can quench the 260gal. Cigarette w/ 92 octane in case we get another couple weekends of Iindian Summer here in Chicago!

Wow, someones been into the archives
Heres an update on the boat. This one was a scat cat built by active thunder. It came to us with an old force 35 on it. That lasted about 50 hrs. It has been repowerd with a new 30 johnson and got a cmc set back/power trim unit. It now runs a tick over 35 but planes so much better with the engine moved back 4 inches. The kid has put 247 hrs on it as of this past labour day weekend. His dad put a little thumpin stereo in it this summer as a B day present for the kid too.

I am hoping, time willing to have my reborn cougar cub/40 merc shorty done by next spring but dam its a lot of work to basically rebuild everything inside the gelcoat. Got all new gaffrig gauges, new purple dino wheel, custom shifter/throttle setup, hand made set back/ transom jack and new power trim unit ready. Already completed the physical rebuild of the hull after grinding out everything in site. So far I have added a full 1.5 inch laminated transom with 3/4" knees from the transon to the liner and tunnel top and 3 1/2"knee stiffeners from the front of the liner to the front of the tunnel. Two full lenght composite stringers from transom to front of sponsons. Front 2/3 of the boat is now foam filled because I know its gonna go over with the 40 on it and foam will make it easier to rescue as well as stiffen it up some. Its gonna be a tuff little sucker when its finnished. Still have to finnish redo on gel coat after fixing nine million blisters, sand and refinnish the deck. Bond, glass and screw the two pieces back together and then paint and rig it. Sure seems like a lot of work for a kids toy. Estimated weight with the 40 on the back is still under 300 lbs so it should get right along.

Tantrum, unfortunately, the 3 cougar cubs I have seen for sale were as most everyone I have ever seen were. WROTTEN and covered in blisters and cracks. They really weren't built very well at all.

I wonder if Pat still has the molds and would be interested in selling just the hull shells for others to paint, rig etc?

I talked to pat about that. He said they tossed the molds in the scrap pile a few years back
