Potomac River Fireworks on Saturday Night!

Re: Potomac River Fireworks on Saturday Night!
I can tell you first hand that Leesylvania is a mess. Yesterday, after milling around for 1/2 hour at almost low tide in my 292 Formula waiting for a ramp to open up to get back in, tempers were short and patience was low (just like the tide)!! My boat seemed to take up most of the floating part of the pier. I had to get some people to help float the boat back past the end of the pier in order to get the trailer all the way in the water (it was just me & my little kids)! They are supposed to have 120' piers in soon...
As far as Tims 1 goes, I'm not sure. I thought I saw boats there yesterday.

Hey Charmed 1
Sorry we will miss you, will be in Solomons Island next Sat. Have heard the same about the ramp at leesylvania, as far as Tims 1, the pier and tiki bar were closed by the county. Tim is fighting it but it was closed last weekend. The resturant is still open. As far as the police, they dont seem to be any worse than usual. You might call Frank Hubble he usually has the inside story about whats going on with the Va. side of the river.

Hey Audra, what's up? Are you coming up to play on the river for the weekend? Give me a call (703-447-3453) and we'll hook up for a beer. Then I'll owe you one on Lake Norman when I come down.

Part of the Tim's story......
CRABMAN NEWS: "That Deck Looked Pretty Safe to Me When I Was Getting
Crabs to Go Yesterday" Edition June 21, 2004
That has to be my longest Subject Title I have ever written and it just
goes to show you'll never know what you'll get here on the Crabman News.
Meet the County Supervisors and Tell Them You Support Tim.
As you may have seen in the Potomac News, Washington Post, TV Channels
4, 5, 7, 8, AND 9 citizens of Prince William County as well as employees
turned out at the last Board of County Supervisors Meeting to voice
their outrage at the way Tim and the Rivershore are being strong-armed.
Well, they meet again tomorrow at the McCoart Building and we again will
be there and want you to be there as well. Show up around 1:30PM
Tuesday, June 22, 2004 and bring a sign or your boat on a trailer for
what is our American right of a peaceful non-violent public protest.
Plan on speaking for 3 minutes at Citizen's Time and let's get the
politicians to put their words and their opinion and name on their
actions against the Rivershore and Tim

You Meet The Best People in the Waiting Area
Well with ALL OF THE DECKS CLOSED you can image what that has done to
getting in and getting a quick table. That's right it takes a little
longer but you know what? There are some of the nicest people in the
world to talk to right there in the waiting areas. Yesterday my wife and
I stopped down after Church to pick her up a dozen Crabs to go and
really enjoyed our time just talking to people in the waiting area.
Jason was the bartender at the T-shirt booth folding shirts, serving
drinks and smiling and laughing with all the people. We met an older
gentleman wearing a W.W.II memorial hat and when I introduced myself and
asked him if he served in that war he said "I served in World War II,
Korea AND Viet Nam". I just shook his hand and told him "Thank You Sir".
Wow. It was fun to watch the faces on "First timers" seeing the live
crabs being sorted, sized and steamed. Sure it takes a few more minutes
to get a table so just relax, get a cool drink, look around and
introduce yourself to someone and enjoy the moment.
The NOT on the Forth of July Fireworks June 26, 2004
Yeah, the 64 Thousand Dollar question is will the Prince William County
Board of Supervisors and their staff continue actions against Tim and
the rest of us and not allow the Fireworks. As far as I have heard the
only change I can see is they might be moved just north to Leesylvania
State Park. If I hear ANY THING about what has always be a great SAFE
local event that is enjoyed by people near and far.
Have a great day folks and if you can don't forget about coming out
tomorrow to support Tim and the crew at the Rivershore.
Thanks!
peace

Re: Potomac River Fireworks on Saturday Night!
Don't worry about going to DC. I have been North of the Woodrow Wilson 3 times in the past 4 days; all the way to Georgetown tonight. Just have your paperwork in order. I have not been hassled.
If the drawbridge section of the WW is closed off due to construction, like it was tonight, you can use the span JUST to the east of the main openning span. I had to use it tonight, followed another boater, and idled through with no issues.
The dock only at Tims 1 in Dumfries is closed. Fricking PWC sucks ass. Almost as bad as Fairfax County.
Leesylvania docks do suck. The gas dock is gone, and I mean gone. For hassle free launching, I suggest Occoquan, however...
If you can just drop and go, or load and go, you can still use Leesylvania. If you have a few dockhands that will help as well. The middle docks are now gone at both ramps, north and south. Just one wide ramp, with short floating docks, and the Hurricane left a lot of silt in the basin. WATCH OUT at low tide, but not impossible to navigate in there. The ramps will be really short at low tide however. The new docks are delivered to Leesylvania, but they are not installed yet. They are sitting up on the grass as of this past Friday night.

Hey Brian, Isn't it past your bed time Thanks for the input sounds like Occoquan will be the way to go. What about overnight or week long parking for truck and trailer? Call me sometime 704-634-8431

Re: Potomac River Fireworks on Saturday Night!
Dunno about extended parking. I bet Leesylvania will charge you up the yin-yang for that, like 5 bucks a night for the truck and 5 bucks for the trailer, if I remember correctly. (Yes, it went up). I think they only allow overnight on Friday and Saturday as well. Occoquan has such limited parking, and the no wake zone sucks to do so many times. You might try calling the HMFIC at Leesylvania to see what they say.

Re: Potomac River Fireworks on Saturday Night!
I think the time changed for the meeting. This was posted on our other NOVA website:
FYI-- Pirate Mike's emails have been going out asking for support at the Tuesday @ 2:00 meetings at the McCoart building in PWC...at which time most people are at work! Tim said last night, though, that today's meeting has been moved to 7:30pm, in case any of you are interested in going out to show support for Tim's. The group will be gathering around 6pm to make a "peaceful scene." Apparently there will still be a chance for people to get up and speak for 3 minutes at a time.
Maybe we'll see/get to meet some of you there.
Patti
