This might be a little off topic,but next time a race comes to Tampa/St.Pete and the USGC does not want to grant a permit to race because of the political fallout of the Save the Manatee Club, the promoter needs to tell them "THEN THERE WILL BE NO GASPARILLA IN FEBRUARY EITHER". See how fast you get your permit then. After all the Gasparilla flotilla is 50X what the race brings out, and is not a controlled enviroment. Sorry had to get that off my chest,cause SMC hates the perf. boater or racer.
