32Fever,

If the accident happened in St. Joe, what marina was the boat towed to by Sea Tow---I would imagine it was Pier 33 being that Sea Tow keeps their boat moored there. I didn't know there were any Gladiators in the area (that is if it IS a Gladiator), but things change all the time with new boats poping up here and there.

Where exactly did it happen---north or south of St. Joe?....and how far? Glad to hear no one was killed or seriously injured.

Back in June when we beat this subject to death the incident rate was almost equally split...with the v bottom leading by one....this is logical since there are more v bottoms out there than cats by a wide margin.......so it is not a fair comparison.....but since you seem to enjoy statistics and such I would assume you would already know this........

As I recall from what I heard, at least one time it was over and was not in race conditions.

It was while being tested in a river that gets no more than 1 to 2 ft chop on it's worst day... It was also early in the season, still very cold I recall, so I don't suspect any other boat wakes either....

Yup, my ex-virgin now team lapdance boat has spun a few times..... in fact it has spun everybody who has ever owned it!! Bob Bull spun his Gladiator 5 times, I think Lynch mob may have come around once, and there are a few others who will remain unamed. Keep in mind these are race conditions though, although some of the driving at "poser runs" borders on dangerous. Cigs are having a bad year for spins and ejections. maybe the factory needs to start letting the race teams do the R&D and pass it along to the consumer as opposed to the WFO poker runner. The offshore legend is becoming just that!!!

Todd and Tres got a wake up call with the boat, Kevin King damn near killed himself and Gill Lieber in a GLSCS race both getting pitched, Dave E and Val spun and broke a gimbal but stayed planted, and lastly BruceK and I got flung in Marathon while sporting a nice lead!! The boat is really fast but must be respected in turns, period.

As for the hull design I think that Stinson could speak to the step hull cigs turning habits!!!

I believe it was Dave E & Val's incident that I am referring to. It was in Jersey and as I said, not during a race, just testing....

That pic looks to be at a race. It must have been a different time that I heard about. As I said, it was early in the season...

Agree completely -

Regardless of the power.... You've got to know 1) how to drive 2) when to let off - ALWAYS leaning towards sooner rather than later (unless racing, of course!). Otherwise, your passengers will say -- By the way, I thought those used to only be the Baja guys. What's happened!
