tnt-what are you thinking this boat would take to get it back on the water? The way the ad reads, it sounds like it's more than just the transom. I e-mailed the guy and it's really a transom/stringer issue. So that proably includes the core too. The interior is ripped, so that's about to go. And we still havn't talked about the engines/drives, etc...

You have to look at the boat again. I haven't seen the boat for quite some time (2.5-3 years) I would be surprised to see as much damage as is indicated. Cigarette does a good job sealing any holes. It is usually the result of a modification or change. That boat probably came with the old 420 exhaust and was converted to Gil. Resulting in a tail pipe hole modification. You can figure it out with a through inspection. I have a 31 Bullet in the shop getting a complete new transom. Cost to have the glasswork done by a high end shop is $4500. including filling all the holes for a Bravo conversion. This boat ran between a tug boat and barge in south America and caught the drives on the tow cable. The resulting 70 to 0 sudden stop, cracked the transom from side to side. They continued to use the boat for 4 years until the transom finally became soft enough that you can jump on the drives and see them move. The stringers were not harmed. The boat would sell for $55-60,000 in nice shape. You just have to do the math to see what kind of deal it is. I can tell you cost for most of the repairs if you had someone else do the work. Let me know if you need any other info.

If a boat is properly fixed with the whole transom replaced including up the stringers to the point the rot stops the boat is as good as new. I've been in a boat that had a rebuilt transom and pounded the crap out of it w/out a prob.

By the way, if the transom, interior, probably needs a good paint/buff tuch up, you know the motors and drives will have to be replaced/refreshed.

So do the math. Now I'm by no means a pro at this, I'm just estimating from minimal experience. I'm sure some of you can fix these numbers.

Boat 20k
Transom 5k
Drives 3-4k to freshen both
Paint buff what 1k for a good buff
Paint anywhere from 5k to re-do same style to 25k for knew/updated killer paint.
Interior Including update the bolsters and powder coat handles 2-3k
motors...say 10-15k for 496's (which will push that thing in the upper 60's) $ goes up accordingly in motor size.
trailer (that trailer's done!) 5k to rebuild from metal up 8-9k for new.
Gauges, throttles, switches, I couldn't even guess, how about 1500-2k
How's my numbers...I'm guesstimating.

So you get a completely re-riged boat for under 70k? not bad.

What year is this thing anyway? Looks like an 87-90 with the cabin layout.

The member I sold my last boat to looked into that more than a year ago. Yes N.H. location. Boat was rough. I suggested he avoid it. This was before any mention of rot. Hope he sees this.
