(1) Check Insurance Coverage
(2) Look at all the new models coming out
(3) Have a Hurricane Party New Orleans Style
(4) Invite lots of friends
(5) Pray that it hits someone else

GOOD LUCK

I understand that Sanibel is evacuated. My dads boat is in Fort Myers Beach on trailer covered and he is here in Tn. What can you do? Hope for the best. Everyone be safe down there.

Just saw this thread, albeit a little late. During Isabel last September, my boat was on the lift. I had no trailer or truck available.

What saved the boat during the Chesapeake tidal surge was a full boat cover with Gortex stitching, 12 bungee cords and stainless steel hooks. Boat floated 2'-3' above the lift during the storm (only 60MPH winds max) and pulled it back down onto the lift when the water receded. All others in the marina sustained major damage, mostly from coming down off angle to the lift. In case the bungees failed, I had tied 6 lines to the boat (x-cross and springs) to keep it from floating away.

I believe the final estimate was an 8' tidal surge in Baltimore. Without a full cover, I suppose you could still use the bungees as a backup by attaching them to the cleats, but not tight to allow full stretch. The downside is the boat will "sink" on the lift if they stretch to the max and don't break off.

I hope you made out okay.
