Scale model of your own powerboat ??

That is mine. I found the guy that made the plugs for Revell Models. He just finished a line of tractor trailers for them and I was impressed with his detail, so I contacted him to see if he would be interested in doing a special project.
He agreed and I sent my whole rig down to his place between race events. My truck driver told me later the guy lived in a trailer up in the woods in Kentucky and they were not so sure the rig could fit down the road to his trailer...but they made it.
My driver stayed there for ten days and lived in the sleeper of the truck and a small tent for hot weather. The guy took measurements with a tape measure and did everything by hand. He delivered the finished product to me at the Guy Lombardo race in NY.
His first shot at the boat was not right, the sides were out of proportion, so I sent him the model back and asked him to make another one, but keep the first model and mount it alone without the truck...... and I would make it a 50/50 model. You know 50 feet away at 50 MPH it didn't look too bad.
The second boat which is the one here in the photo was much better. I still have it in my library at home after I closed my office up and retired. The boat alone model, my oldest son has in his home in South Florida.
That was in 1979 and yes a custom built model at that time was very expensive......but so many years later, well worth it!

Hope this picks up the photos......no it didn't.
Speaking of models, HORBA is redoing our website and will be offering the model of Don Aronow's The Cigarette in the next month or so.
We are also talking with someone who can produce a model of the Bertram 38 foot race boats..... of the 70's and 80's. Hope that happens!
Also, last but not least.......we have spoken another model maker who can duplicate the famous Apache 41 footer...... with any and all of the famous names on the race boats.
