Ive got all three, from 2002 - 2004 on the construction jobs. As much as I am a GM guy, and drive all three on a weekely basis, I prefer my 04 6.0 for towing anything above 9,000 pounds. I have had some issue's with my dually, but they have been all resolved, and am enjoying the truck. The Dodges have come along way as far as refinement,(thank MB for this) but drive a new 05 Ford. With all the refinements, they are hands down in my book still the leader. The ride is now the best, turns as well as the other two, has more power pulling loaded or unloaded, (read Motor Trucks) even with less advertised torque, and has the roomiest cabin. I've had the opportunity to drive an 05 for the last 3 days, what an improvement over the 04, I even pulled my 17600 pound Nortech with it, all I can say is WOW, much improvement, now if they can only take some exterior styling types from Dodge

Great advice from all guys! Appreciate it.
I am lucky and get, not employee pricing but vendor pricing on new vehicles from all these makers. 1% over invoice for Ford, 1% under for Dodge and that is why I'm asking.
Mat,
thanks for the offer, but chances are the cost would be more in addition to my X-plan, with the expense there and back from MN.
My biggest concern is the 1st year hit on depreciation. I would rather buy used, but I don't want someone elses problems.
And I hate the payment on another $18k vs. maybe $6k - 9k.

don't buy an 03' 6.0L ford!!!! 04's & 05's are good. over 100 parts don't interchange between 03 & 04 . i'm a ford tech so i've seen it first hand.

This one will be for sale in about 2 mos when my 05 Ford comes in, if interested you may have it for the same price as they give me a trade in figure for, plus the taxes, title, its called a in and out, I usually do this with my employees. Jeff
Decals come off, will have approx 24k miles on it. Has rubber floor mats over carpet, from one end to the other, rubber mats over that. Edge module/Attitude, AFE proguard 7 air filter, DPPI turbo back duals, cover, mudflaps, do this to all my trucks. When new truck comes in they will give me an exact price, I will know exactly at that time. Thanks Jeff

If your a Ford guy to begin with then go with the 6.0. It sounds like they have all the problems worked out. Other than that spend some time on some of the diesel websites and get a feel for all of them (Dmax,Ford, Cummins) then drive one of each.
Personally the Cummins is the only way to go. I've got an older one (2001) and love it. The new ones are AWESOME. No more trans. issues and they are a lot quieter than the older ones. The new chassis rides and handles great and in 06 they will have the Mega cab which is a true "crew" cab.

I can't fit a dually through the garage.
Been hearing that 04's should be available for 2-4k under invoice though. That may swing my decision to go new.
