All these Dr. Phil wach-jobs that think they can save the world by fixing dysfunctional families should come on here and see how WONDERFUL dysfunctional really is!

Shane,
Hang in there, and remember. "Easy does it, But do it" Time's one thing that you've probably got going for you right now. So just take it easy and let your body do the healing that it needs to.
I've also heard that a little post surgery depression is normal. So don't get too balled up about it all. Just keep one foot in front of the other and keep walking along that road to full recovery..
One other note. I was told that I would need approx. 2 months for each hour that I was on the Heart Lung machine (The Pump) and my heart was stopped.
So 5hrs on the "pump" equaled 10 months of recovery for me. I have completed 8 and am fully back to normal. But that was with really intensive rehab twice daily. since May. So give it time and however slow it starts ( I didn't leave the house for a month) you'll be fit and fine in no time.

Shane,
I had an aortic tear back in 1994 when I was on my way to a tunnel boat race in St Louis when the truck, enclosed trailer with the sst45 in it and all inside truck went of the road into the woods and into a stream. The heart issue was only a few of the things that occurred but anyway if at any time you would like to know details of my recovery please feel free to private message me for any ?s you may have. Hang in there Buddy
