Reed-
I thought that they used velcro: instead of metal clasps. My wife would never go for the metal clasps.

Re: Velcro lap belts sold by Tiger Marine
Have them in my 28 Daytona and love them. Front and rear passengers all seem to like them. Mine are from Tiger and they have velcro like a knee board.
The only issue I came across is if you stand up on a start at a poker run. Your hands hands may be too busy with wheel and throtles to fasten the belt. I had this problem with my short twin boat and solved it by installing an ICOM. I stay seated and my navigator stands during starts and tells me where to go and what is going on for the few seconds I can't see over the bow.

the poker run belts are velcro, the metal part is where they bolt to the floor or seat... they work quite well in cats, especially if grab handles are in short supply..

Thanks guys-
I'm going to install them in the Jag, even tho there are grab handles. My wife hurt her back one year when a boat we were in lifted off of a large wake and, although she had her hands on the handles, her body lifted off of the seat and then hit hard when the boat landed. The belts would hold us onto the seats and eliminate the "impact" on "landings".

John, Save your money until you water test that Jag. If your wife sits next to you in the front of the cat, you will not ever need those belts. The rear seating is different I'm told but I have never sat in the back, too hard to reach the sticks and wheel from the rear seats. That 40 will be way smoother than the Chris and 10 feet longer. The Jags really ride nice and steady. Post some pictures when you can. Doug

I would be very cautious of wearing any kind of restraint system in a open canopied boat. If a roll over occurs you will certainly not live to tell about it. BH
