I've gone both way's. (Did I say that). I have to say, I like both. I saw a Skater for sale with 4 2.5's on it. I think that would be neat, but then I have a hard time keeping 4 light bulbs lit in my bathroom. Packin, What kind of boat is that in the Pic? Doug

Hey Dockrocker.....
I grew up with outboards and now I have a Formula with big blocks. Sometimes I wonder what I did by leaveing the "dark side" Anyway here a few Center Consoles that are very nice and might be worth looking into. Send me a PM if you are interested. Good Luck!!

The Dark side ? never been there
There are some tuff motors , the one thing that impressed me was the rods in them , with needle bearings , there built kinda like the jap motorcycles.

As far as the kids go , mine are 5 and 2 now and the open lay out is great for them as long as it's not too rough ... Performance wise ... if you can run around 60 "comfortably" you'll be surprised at how many other "go-fast" boats you'll be able to run with most of the time. If you want a good "all around , low upkeep" boat that does ALOT of things well , you will have a hard time beating a 36 Concept . The FUN factor is way up there , and the BULL**** quotient is zero ! Have Fun Shopping !!!JM

outriggers - packinairs boat is a Sanger AlleyCat. pretty cool boat and flys like crazy. i wasnt much for outboards till he got his. it has a very cool sound to it but he has the exhaust tuned.

As for the wind, I'm wondering if you put two little plexiglass "doors" between the gunwales and the console, would that break up the wind for those in the rear bench seat? A lot of bowriders have a similar windblocker for the walkway between the consoles, seems like it should work for a CC as well.

I'm going through the change myself right now...
I took a deposit on my pantera (Twin Big Block B1s)..
And am working for Evinrude..
I am on my demo boat about three times per week...
Twin 225s... Yeah, I know, it's a fishing boat..... But we're talking about making the switch from BB to OB...
It's taking a bit tetting used to the OBs...mainly around the dock...
These OBs Idle at 500rpm, and shift so smooth... I find myself wondering if I'm moving, in gear, running...
You have no doubt, with a big block if the thing is in gear, or idling.... It's more predictable in my opinion.
This boat weighs 8500 with fuel and people. I'll put my money on this boat for a drag race against a lot of performance boats... (Two strokes have a lot more torque than 4 stroke anythings) Top end is only 56..but look at the boat...
Fuel consumption is a small fraction of that of the big block... This boat will burn 20 GPH at WOT!!!!!! WOT!
One more common thing in many OB boats.. Throttle and shifter in one... Terrible..
Maintenance... OBs have far far far less to worry about.
In the Evinrude ETec...
No service, none for 300 hours.
No break in period
Self draining when the key is off.
Self winterization/fogging mode
524 lbs
