Will any other above discussed oils work in a Ford application? I think they call for a Dextron V. (I am due for the next trans change with aFord Explorer with a history transmission issues). Any trans guys haver knowledge of the Explorer and how to get them to live a bit longer. Soon ready for tow vehicle upgrade but would like to get 6 more months s outta it.

You can do the full flush yourself. Find out how much oil for a change and how much for an empty system. Do the change and then disconnect the return line (from cooler to tranny) and start it up. Add fluid at about the same rate as which it empties into a container from the return line until you have lost the same amount as the difference in change versus empty system. Works on GM trannies.
