Mike:
Peter has sold the Stolper Sportfishing line and is pursuing new ventures to be announced shortly. He also completely refitting a 1959 Whiticar 40' custom sportfisherman for me from the bottom up, and helping me with a lot of redesign and engineering work on my 35' Cigarette Mistress. As I said in a previous post on OSO, Peter's a brilliant engineer, an insightful designer and a helluva a guy if you get to know him! And, for me, he's local!
If you guys want to talk about a terrific boat that combines all of the best attributes of a catamaran and a deep-vee, and I know I am starting to sound like Aronow, (but this is no Blue Thunder) Peter's SSPH, or split surface planing hull is the way to go. It's a 92% efficient hull with lift based on hydrodynamics rather than aerodynamics. A dry, comfortable, fast and economical ride! Available as either a 22', 35' or 45'. If anyone is interested, please contact me, as we might start building them again. The boats were twenty years ahead of their time when he was building them in the mid-eighties, check out the pictures below.

Re: Anyone have info on Mares 38 Cat??
I craswled arund a 38 at LOTO 4 years ago. As everyone said, they are a HUGE boat, very wide and deep. Ton's of room in the cockpit AND cabin.
I think Poerboat has as ad for new 38's w/525's for 249k ?? I don't have the mag with me, but I think that is right.
They look like a well built boat. Would be a great prformance Cruiser type boat but in a cat hull.
