Maxumus 5 blade / hering
Which of the two props would you say are better and why

These props are very different from each other. The Herings are cleavers and induce stern lift and the Maximus has a round ear blade design inducing bow lift.

Julie, you didn't mention the Hydromotive P5-X. Baja27 you need to call Julie, she knows props. Powerboat mag. even thinks so.

So that explains why my boat is faster top end with the cleaver prop vs the lobbed Mirage prop. I just figured it was due to available surface area to bite into the water and to effect rpms.

I have a 33' V with 29 Mirage 3 blades and I'm going to try 4 or 5 blades soon.

I got a 88 Baja 240 sport. Factory 454 mag and running 23 pitch props. Both came with the boat. GPS with the Mirage 3 blade was 58.8 with two people and quarter tank of gas. Never did GPS test with the cleaver. Unknown make on it. But I know it feels faster at speed. Just takes a little longer to jump out of the whole. Something a 4 or 5 blade should help eliminate.
