$50K - 1st Performance Boat - What should I get ?
Got a $50K budget and I'm looking for my first performance boat. What do you recommend ? Single, Twin, 25ft-30ft, v-hull, cat ? I would like to do 70mph. Thanks for all your responses.

Where do you like to boat? How many people go with you? Will you spend any nights on the boat? How are you with a set of wrenches?

I'll be on just a few different lakes in Texas. Normally will have about 4-6 people. Dont know much about motors so I would like something I can just get it and start up. I wont spend the night on it cause I live about 30 seconds from the Marina.

a 70 MPH boat in that price range will be slightly older.. and try to stick to stock power.. turn the key and go.. Mine is only around a high 50's in the speed range boat.. but it handles rough water well..
It also depends on the tpe of water you will be runnin in... You can get a flats stly boat that hauls ass, but cant go through the rought stuff all that well.. of you can get a deeper V ad handle the rough stuff great with less speed..

A 27 or 29 fountain with a 502 will get you close to 70. Maybe find a single step 1995 or so.
Good first performance boat.
Lot a Bajas to be had in that price range but will be a bit slower with that same power. Checkmate might be good or an older Formula.

As it is your first, and many people learn that they'd prefer something different during their first boat, I'd suggest you buy a nice condition, high quality older boat with stock or modest power that is popular in your neighborhood. I'm partial to Formula, and would suggest a 27 or 30 footer from the late Eighty's or early Ninety's. They have almost bottomed out on pricing, and there appears to be a market for them. It seems the trick is to find one in beautiful condition, and keep it that way. You can get a lot of older boat for your budget.
